A Letter from Joel and Lisa

Joel and Lisa

Dear Birth Mother,

Thank you for choosing life for your baby, and we are praying for you at this difficult time. While we cannot imagine the emotions you are going through, your selfless decision and concern for your child is overwhelming to us. We hope this letter will give you a better idea of who we are.

We are Lisa and Joel and have been married since 1997.  We both grew up in Texas and met while in college. We are best friends and love spending time together; talking, laughing,  praying and playing. Adoption has been a thread that has woven itself through both of our lives and we feel this is how God has called us to expand our family. Our faith is very important to us and God is the center of our lives, with His touch on everything we do.

Joel has a great sense of humor, is intelligent, a natural leader, great father and husband. He loves the Lord and strives to live a life with one main purpose, to serve God with his whole heart. Joel was raised on a cotton farm in West Texas, which influenced many of his passions. Joel has excelled in education, obtaining a Ph.d. from Texas Tech University in Agronomy. He currently works for John Deere Inc. as a Customer Support Manager. Joel is happiest serving in church, coaching soccer games, and working on landscape and gardening projects with Lisa and the boys.

Lisa grew up in a suburb of Houston. She graduated from Texas Tech University in Interdisciplinary Agriculture with a teaching certification. She is involved in the children’s and women’s ministry at the church. The children stop her all the time and give her hugs and tell her how much they love her and enjoy being in her class. She is caring, loves her family and friends, and is a spiritual blessing.

Luke, Will and Noah are such a joy to have as children. They are excited to have another sibling.  They love playing with each other and keep us laughing. They like to play soccer, Tae Kwon Do, video games and with their Legos. They take part in many church activities such as Awanas and Home Group Kidslot. Luke and Will are both being home-schooled so Lisa can give Luke special attention due to his dyslexia. They have a beagle named Flash and a pet lizard.

We live in a wonderful community in North Mississippi. Our home is in a new subdivision with several young kids that are always running around playing. Our neighborhood is still growing with plans for a community swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and playgrounds.

Our families are very important to us. We travel to our families’ homes in Texas several times a year and every Christmas and Thanksgiving. Our boys are great friends with their cousins and spend time each summer with them. All of our family is supportive and excited about our adoption journey.

We would love to get a chance to know you better. Please call to learn more about us. Thanks.

In Christ,
Joel and Lisa
