A Letter from Terry and Tara
Hi,
I think this letter is supposed to be about us, but we want you to know how much we admire you for considering adoption. It truly is a gift from the heart! We pray you find peace in whatever choice you make.
I wish I had a fairytale story to tell about this perfect life that we live. Well…to us it’s almost perfect, but it probably isn’t one for the story books.
Honestly we are really just Terry and Tara! We are two hardworking people who love each other and enjoy life. We are hoping to one day be blessed with a child that we can love and share our “pretty normal” life with.
About us: We were great friends first, then dated almost 2 years before we were married June 9, 2000. That was only a week after Tara graduated high school! So you can pretty much say…“We have grown up together.” And together is the way we like it. We enjoy spending our free time just being together, doing things like chores around the house, riding bikes in the neighborhood, hanging out with friends, taking road trips, and just staying up all hours of the night talking. Lately we have been learning to cook together. (That has been an experience as Terry already thinks he’s a chef.) We are looking forward to having a little one to share these things with, but secretly we are excited about having an excuse to act like kids. We can’t wait to discover new interests together as a family.
About Terry: He is a self-proclaimed “Geek” with a little bit of a wild side. He loves anything having to do with computers, technology, video games, movies, music, and useless information. But when his wild side does come out he can be found tinkering with his motorcycle or blazing trails on his mountain bike. Terry has 2 half-sisters on his dad’s side but was raised mostly by his mom, so he likes to think he’s an only child. He’s also a little bit of a Momma’s Boy. Terry is really just a big kid; he even still plays with trains! OK…he does get paid for that since he “works” as an Engineer for the railroad.
About Tara: She is very much a people person. She enjoys the simple things like game night with the family or pedicures with the girls. She loves photography, making crafty things, reading, traveling and swimming. Tara comes from a very large blended family with an abundance of nieces and nephews. When her brothers and sisters ask her to babysit they know they better send an extra set of clothes because Aunt Tara (“TETAW”) and the kids will probably find a way to get dirty (usually some messy craft project or a mud puddle at the park). Tara always wanted to be a teacher and now has her “dream job” doing just that as an Instructor for a major utility company.
Truth be told…We could probably come up with an entire list of all of the things we could offer a child, all of the vacations we would take and opportunities they would have. To us those things are all secondary. What we really have is Love! We promise to love your child unconditionally. They will always know that they are loved, by God, by us, and by you.
Words from Tara: When I was 16 years old I placed my daughter through open adoption. So believe me I get it…Choosing to place isn’t an easy decision but in my situation it was the best one for us. The gift of a child will be a huge blessing for Terry and me, but the opportunity to have a relationship with you will be a blessing in itself.
We already love you and your baby,
Terry and Tara
